About this Project

Ay! Chamo is a Venezuelan arepa bar concept that celebrates bold flavors, cultural pride, and an expressive visual identity. The brand combines vibrant color, playful energy, and a strong voice to reflect the warmth and personality of Venezuelan food culture.

At the core of the identity is a custom logotype explicitly designed for the brand. Through sketching, letterform exploration, and refinement, the logo was developed to feel loud, joyful, and full of character, capturing the spirit of the cuisine and the experience Ay! Chamo aims to create.

Typeface Development Process

The custom logotype for Ay! Chamo serves as a bold visual expression of Venezuelan culture. The design process began with hand-drawn sketches inspired by the graffiti found across urban walls in Venezuela, raw, energetic, and full of movement. That expressive street aesthetic became the foundation for the brand’s personality.

Each letter was developed to balance playfulness with structure. Through exaggerated forms, irregular baselines, and organic curves, the logotype captures the spontaneity and attitude of graffiti while maintaining clarity and functionality across applications.

From early marker sketches to refined digital outlines, every curve and spacing decision was intentional. The final mark preserves a hand-crafted feel while achieving visual cohesion, resulting in a logotype that is vibrant, confident, and unapologetically Venezuelan.
